Tierra Sagrada
is nestled in the Texas Hill Country along a mile and a half of the
scenic Guadalupe River eight miles North of Boerne on FM 47i4. Since
the 1980s the ranch has operated as the Guadalupe River Ranch a conference
center and Hill Country Resort, which Texas Monthly called "The
Grand Dame of the Guadalupe. It has hosted many Fortune 500 companies,
was an important destination for artists, as well as having been the
perfect hideaway for romantic get-a-ways. The NBC Today Show included
the ranch in the top five family reunion destinations. Fine dinning,
relaxing surroundings, outdoor activities, an in-the-trees ropes course,
dinosaur tracks and fossils, friendly service-oriented staff, and rustily
elegant accommodations made the ranch a leading destination for both
corporate retreats and individual resort guests for many years.
The Main lodge was built in the 1920s and became the home of Academy
Award winning actress, Olivia de Havilland, in the 30s. Founder of the
Guadalupe River Ranch, Walter Starcke, provided a opportunity for artists,
potters, wood craftsmen, and designers to express themselves and explore
their art at the ranch. Walter and his partner, Eron Howell, decorated
the interiors with custom fabrics and wallpapers form their nationally
successful hand print silk screen company that printed right on the
ranch.
Tierra Sagrada will continue to respect the natural beauty of the land
that hosts several different ecosystems, which include an extensive
variety of wildlife, birds, and native plants. Today’s efforts
to be good stewards of this “sacred land” will ensure that
generations will have treasured memories of time spent at Tierra Sagrada.
